A classic childhood rite-of-passage around here - everyone remembers the Friendly Farm! The staff are friendly, but not overbearing. Gift shop is well-stocked. We miss the deer, but still enjoyed our recent trip. Our favorites were the Muscovy ducks and feeding the goats.
I come from a long line of horse breeders and farmers we used to raise horses and all my family members had horses. Show horses, pull horses, and riding. And we had goats and cows and none of our animals looked or acted like these ones. You go here, then go somewhere else that is well maintained and the animals are worked with and fed proper you will be saying the same thing I am.
If I could give it negitave stars I would. It's not a very well kept place and the animals look like there only food comes from people that come to feed them. And they all act like that as well. Every single goat is all skin and bones. Rib cages showing and they just herd right to anyone and fight over and few bits of grain someone might have. You cant even have your kid open there hand to pour any grain into it before the goats are jumping on them knocking them down or biting them. The cows are mean they try to ram everyone or bite. And the sheep act like they are being beat on. They are scared of everyone and they run and then they shake when they stop.
The friendly farm is a wonderful destination for families. A full visit will take 1 hour to 1.5 hours. Outhouses only but they are fairly clean. Be sure to feed a baby goat a bottle, hold baby chicks, and check to see if a calf is in the barn.
Many decades of eager and happy children have had access to this petting farm. Many families that travel or visit southern NH make it a traditional visit each summer. Open on a seasonal basis btwn Memorial and Labor Day, this well-known farm has seen several owners come and go but the smiling customer service remains the same!
This is the best farm for kids. They can interact with most of the animals and even feed baby goats with a bottle. Unlike other farms, where all of the animals are behind fences, almost all of the animals here are free-roaming and child-friendly, and my son loves loves loves hugging the goats and chickens, and running around with the sheep.
